Family Portraits

        

When we look at the portrait over the fireplace and see our family now, we realize how much has happened since that photo was taken.  We're amazed at how small the kids look and how much we have all changed.  We are so glad that moment in time was captured!

This is why family portraiture is so important.

     The setting for the portrait is very important. We have a large studio that can accommodate up to twenty or more people, or you can select  a location that expresses the interests and personality of the family.  It could be in your own home or back yard, or another favorite location. If you're into golf as a family, the photograph could be arranged to be taken at the course. If you're a farming family, then we'll come to your farm or dairy. If you love the beach or the mountains then a sitting can be arranged. *   But whatever the location, it is a good idea to discuss the possibilities with one of our staff. 

* There is an extra charge for sittings outside the Visalia area.

 

Express your Family Style

      Your family can express its individual personality by giving a little planning to your clothing choices.  A casual portrait can be as comfortable as Levis and boots, t-shirts and jeans, or chambray and denim.   Following a common color theme gives unity and helps avoid distraction in the photograph.  Solid colors in darker shades are usually  more flattering. If you'd like our suggestions, you are welcome to bring in samples of the clothing you are considering.  This will help ensure that the final photograph is something that you will treasure for years to come. Both formal and casual portraits can be set indoors or outdoors. 

 
 

Digital Image capture allows us to deliver prints faster and create the perfect portrait.

We do our family portraits on high quality digital equipment,
which allows us to post your preview images to our web site, or to print preview prints (or both) within a day or two of the sitting . 

Minor retouching is included in the price. This includes facial blemishes, stray hairs, etc. With digital photography, major retouching is also possible. This can include opening eyes and replacing expressions. This becomes especially valuable when photographing children. In a family group shot where there are several children, it is hard to get all the kids to look good in one picture. In the past we had to live with this. Now with digital, if we have several shots where one child looks good in one image, another looks good in another we can put them together to produce one image where they all look good, making the perfect finished portrait. There is a one-time charge of $10.00 per head to do this, but once done you can order as many prints as you like at no additional charge.

 Canvas Prints

Canvas print finish gives the portrait the look of an old master's painting. Each print is printed by our lab's master craftsmen, then mounted onto artist canvas for the timeless look of fine art.
